How to supercharge your meditation
How to supercharge your meditation
Introduction
(0:00) Hi, this is Dr. Daniels, and you're listening to Healing with Dr. Daniels, and this is the Sunday, September 27th edition. Yay!
Topic: How to Supercharge Your Meditation
(0:14) Our topic today is how to supercharge your meditation. So today, I'm going to chronicle my experience with meditation and the methods that I've applied to advance my happiness, health, and success, and supercharge my meditation. Yay!
(0:41) So why am I talking about this now? Well, I'm talking about this now because so many people are in such a state of distress, and it really just pains me to see so many people suffering unnecessarily. So I'm hoping that today's topic is something that will help people enrich their lives, advance their happiness, and their health, as well as their prosperity. Really, anything you want, it can be applied to.
Taking Turpentine
(1:14) But we have to take our turpentine. Okay, I did not bring my glass with me, so I'm going to have to use my CamelBak.
(1:37) This is my CamelBak spout, and I'm going to use this to get my turpentine down. All right, it's working.
(1:50) So first, yay, sugar! I know, it sounds dumb. Dr. Daniels, why are you living with sugar? Well, it could be vitamin C crystals. It could be a lot of things that look like sugar. So really, once you decide that you're going to be independent from the processed industry, then you've got to take the responsibility of labeling stuff so you know what your stuff is.
(2:17) All right. Then we have, yay, turpentine. If you leave out the last letter, it's not the end of the world. And I have my little pipette thing. We're just going to stick it in the bottle, suck up enough. And if you don't suck up enough, you can turn it upside down, shake it. The fluid falls into the bulb. You can expel some air. Invert it, and then get some more. So that's what we're going to do. We’re going to take it right up, bam, right there. Right up to the neck of the tube.
(3:02) I have several cameras, and I have to make sure I'm looking at the right one. Oh, well. Okay, yeah, over here. There we go. So we're going to squirt this right on top. Squirt, squirt, squirt. Squirt, squirt. Squirt.
(3:22) And we've got to get our little tubing here. Turn. All right. So that's how easy it is to use this CamelBak for hydration. Let me just see if I can turn the camera a little more. No, it's this way. Oh, I see what's going on. I don't have my phone. This goes over here. That goes over there. I need to move. All right.
Taking Shilajit
(4:16) So I'm using a chopstick lately, and this is Shilajit. And I'm going to take my chopstick and stick it into my Shilajit. Because I don't have a glass to dissolve this in, I'm just going to put some on the tip of my chopstick. I don't recommend you do this, what I'm about to do, because it tastes icky. There we go. Okay.
(4:48) So there is the Shilajit. That's about 200 milligrams right there. Now, Shilajit you don't need to take every day. Five days out of seven is perfectly fine. Okay. So for this, because this really does not taste good, I have to have our water ready.
(5:22) Got a lot of it off. All right. That's it. Shilajit and turpentine.

(6:49) I developed Vitality Capsules, jeez, I'm getting old, 27 years ago when I was practicing medicine to help my patients heal because I observed that they were not able to heal when they were unable to poop. In the course of developing Vitality Capsules, the final product I developed had actually four actions. It emptied the colon, emptied the small intestine, emptied the bile, and accelerated enhanced circulation throughout the body so that toxins couldn't even get to the liver for disposal. And for that reason, people found that they got really wonderful results and felt better very quickly.
Meditation
(7:36) And that brings us to today's topic, meditation. Okay, well, into every life, a little rain must fall. So in other words, everyone has stress in their life at some time. And so the big deal is, how do you handle it? What do you do?
(7:58) First, I'd like to start off by saying, what is meditation? So we have the kind of public definition, and then I'll give you my personal definition. The internet definition is that meditation is a mental exercise that involves relaxation, focus, and awareness. And meditation is to the mind what physical exercise is to the body. In other words, it makes the mind stronger. The practice is usually done individually in a still seated position and with eyes closed.
(8:33) My definition of meditation is your mind communicating with the universe, spirit world, divine resources, if you want to think of it, or the God that you believe in. So it's a definite communication between your brain and everything outside of you, or deeper inside of you, depending on your belief system, that is non-physical, but can bring into your being things that are physical. Or it can also help your mind see things differently so that you can actually see and access the positive and beneficial in your life. So it's extremely, extremely powerful, and it can really transform your life in sometimes just minutes, and sometimes over a longer period of time, but in a very dramatic way.
(9:41) So what I'm going to share with you is my meditation journey, part of it I wasn't even aware of. And hopefully, you can see in that something that you can benefit from. I'm not saying everyone should do things the way I do. Lord knows that's not the case.
(10:05) So that's another thing. Everyone has their own particular life experience, and each person, I believe, is truly unique and different. And it's when you deny this uniqueness and this difference that you create stress and unhappiness and, unfortunately, disease, as well as other suffering. So here we go.
The Importance of Meditation in 2020
(10:31) Why did I decide to do this now? This is the year 2020, for those of you who are listening in the future. This is the year 2020, and it's the month of September. A lot of people are filled with uncertainty, with worry, with anxiety. I personally think that perspective is totally unnecessary. It can be avoided, and people can move to a place where they can very quickly have a better quality of life and take steps to improve their life. I mean, really, it's not just a matter of, oh, I'm going to pretend things are okay. No, you can actually make things okay, make things a lot better. So this is hopefully for you a way to do it.
(11:15) What does this have to do with health? I'm going to make this specific to a health application because that's really the way I came to appreciate it most, in really sharp contrast. After decades of working with people, I've come to the conclusion, reluctantly, because I was trained in science, science, science, that most illnesses have their origin in a spiritual realm. Exactly. So doctor, does this mean that you're doing spiritual healing? No. I still recommend, you know, water, cleansing, a proper diet. However, there are times when all these applications simply don't work.
(12:05) Each one of us has a spirit, and the body is simply an expression or a vehicle to express that spirit. Your life, as you see it, is actually the expression of that spirit. So if you see something in your life that's not good, that's actually an expression of your internal spirit in distress. That means you're doing something in your life that your spirit is seriously unhappy with.
(12:32) I came to this reluctant conclusion when I encountered people who did not respond to the best lifestyle changes. Conversely, when people healed and then told me they had a total change in their beliefs and their feelings, they literally had this spiritual transformation, like, wow. And then I started asking, and I started focusing and realizing that the people who healed had something that they were looking forward to doing in a positive way. And once I heal, I'm going to do fill-in-the-blank, just fill-in-the-blank, whatever it is. And that person almost always would heal.
(13:13) But if I would ask a person, okay, when you heal, what are you going to be able to do that you're not able to do right now? And if their answer was, I don't know, that person would never, ever heal. In fact, I would just say, okay, stop right now. I will not even take your money. You are not going to get better. So just, we're not going to be further. It's done.
Understanding Meditation for Healing
(14:39) Once they told me what they want to do, the next question I would ask them is, are you looking forward to this? And if they said, no, not really, that person would never heal. This really did happen, by the way. This is a client, and I was working with him, and he was not doing well at all. We were, like, eight weeks in, and usually, people get really great results by then. Finally, I said, okay, time out. We've got to talk.
(14:26) And I found out that everything he would be able to do once he was healthy were things he didn't want to do. So I explained to him, you're not going to heal until you have a list of things that you're looking forward to that you actually want to do. And so, literally, his assignment, right then and there, I even had his wife listen in, was to make a list of all the things that he did not like doing and stop doing them. Just stop it. Either have someone else do it or just leave it undone. Don't do it.
(15:02) Then focus on what he does like to do and then increase his focus on that, increase the amount of time that took in his day. He started making progress. He started turning around in about a week. A lot of things he didn't want to let go of because he felt he had to do these things. When his wife understood the situation, she said, no, you don't have to do any of those things. He healed completely from what was a hopeless Lyme situation that he had already spent over $100,000 on.
(15:40) So this is really powerful stuff. I hope that you'll take it to heart and see what you can do and find something here you can apply to your life. Okay. So your immune system will literally make you sick or prevent you from doing things that you dread. If you've created for yourself a life filled with things that you are not looking forward to, you will become sick. Your immune system will just say, you know what? This life is just not worth showing up for. We're just going to turn off the lights. Go from room to room, organ to organ, just turn off the lights.
(16:27) So it’s so, so important for you to really get this, you know, sort this out. You cannot build for yourself a life that suppresses your spirit, that makes you feel trapped, that makes you feel uneasy and uncomfortable and unhappy. Just don't do it.
Dr. Daniels' Personal Meditation Journey
(16:45) The first time I decided I needed to meditate, I'll just take you from when I first figured out I needed to meditate, was in college. I went to Harvard. It was a very regimented type experience. I was taking all these challenging courses. I was doing well. But at the end of each day, I would come back to my dorm room and ask myself, what did I learn today and how can I apply it? After about four months of saying no application here, no, I can't apply it to solving any of my real-world day-to-day problems, I began to feel like what I was doing was not relevant to my happiness or creating a positive future.
(17:37) Now I, so in my first semester, they had this stuff on campus, you know, oh, meditate, meditate, meditate. And actually, it was off campus because back then, this was the 70s, meditation was like, oh. So I went to this meditation center. As a student, of course, I did not have a lot of money. But I paid their fee. It was like a $25 fee or whatever. And when I sat down to meditate, I would be asleep within two minutes.
(18:12) And so, of course, as you can see, the standard definition of meditation is you have to be focused. So obviously, when you're asleep, you're not focused. So they gave me a mantra, and I was supposed to sit down and mumble this mantra continuously. And I got more and more and more stressed as I was mumbling this mantra. Now, even then, as a college student engaging in this type of meditation, I realized that this sitting here for 15 minutes was not solving any problems I had. And so I finally just stopped. I just stopped meditating.
(18:52) So I was stressed and rushed and really filled with doubt just from the whole college experience. So I successfully got into medical school. Yay! Well, medical school, again, same thing. Rush, rush, rush. Long hours. No time for reflection. But I was filled with doubt and concern that what they were teaching me in medical school might not be relevant to helping people heal.
(19:24) So, as luck would have it, I called home and said, Mom, I think this is going in the wrong direction. Now, I was doing well in medical school. Don’t get me wrong. But I went to medical school so that I could learn helpful information that I could take back to the ghetto I grew up in and help people heal. And so, as I was critically looking at this information and observing it, nobody was getting better. I said, this is not going to work. I don't see how this can be helpful.
(19:57) So I called my mother, and I tell her, Mom, it doesn't look good. I think this is the wrong turn. And she says, oh, no, no, no, no. Don't drop out. I think you're reading too much into this. It's really going to be a good thing. And I told her, Mom, I don't know. This is really, really bad. I mean, really bad.
(20:21) So she talked to my father, and they called me back about two weeks later and said, we thought about it. We had a great idea. I said, really, what? We're going to send you on a tropical vacation for a week, and that way, you can relax and then get back to work. It'll be okay.
(20:37) So I did go to the tropics, went to the Bahamas for a week. But while I was there, I looked around. I saw the wonderful weather, just an incredibly stress-free environment. I said, you know what? I want to live here and figure out a way to earn enough money to live in the tropics. I said to myself, if I could just stay here and not even go back to medical school, I would do it. But I couldn't figure out a way to support myself. So back to medical school I went, and as my parents guessed, I did feel better.
(21:15) Now, what's that got to do with meditation? Being out of that environment was actually itself a meditation. It freed my mind to think of and consider its own happiness. And that's what I would encourage each person to do. Literally set aside time every day, 15 minutes, half an hour, to simply consider your own happiness. And by that, I mean think, ask yourself, what is making me happy? What is it about my life that I like? What would I change to make myself happier?
(22:03) So meditation without direction, I believe, can be actually destructive. Because people, you know, they get up every day, they have things they have to do, they have challenges, they have problems. And so when you do not apply your brain to those issues and you just let things careen out of control, that creates more stress. So you've got to direct your mind.
(22:29) And so, as luck would have it, I was directed, at least during that one week. Residency, no meditation there, none. So now, in order to meditate, there's a whole preparation that goes into it. And if you do not prepare for meditation, your meditation time may not be as beneficial. So it's super, super important to prepare for meditation.
(22:59) And the preparation for meditation involves a tremendous amount of mental activity. It might even give you a headache. When I first decided that I had to meditate, I had no choice, I just had to meditate, it was after I lost my medical license. I said, I have got to redirect myself. Obviously, I went into a ditch here, something happened. So I, and I had patients who were from India, which was very convenient, and they said, oh, Dr. Daniels, we're going to help you. And they took me to the ashram to meet the local guru, and we meditated.
(23:41) There is a meditation, there are different types of meditations. Some meditations, we sat down and closed our eyes, and you fold your legs if you can, and the guru would say something, and it was kind of like a guided type meditation. Other types of meditations were rhythmic breathing, deep, fast breathing, deep, slow breathing, but, you know, some type of breathing. Now, there is actually a physiological basis for the breathing situation, so the more breathing you do, that deep breathing, the more you detox through your lungs, and removal of those toxins from the blood does help the brain function better.
(24:28) But, you can do even better than that. You can get even more mileage or effectiveness out of your meditation. When I did these meditations at the ashram, under the guidance of the guru, I did feel better, but it was very temporary. And so, literally, I would need to put in 20 minutes of meditation to get 3 minutes of relief. Not very efficient. And especially, again, if you have any kind of life responsibilities, like a job or a family or something, that can be a tough schedule to maintain.
(25:00) So, the question was then, so I did not realize the futility of what, I mean, I realized it was futile, but I didn't know what else to do. So I kept meditating and meditating and meditating. And they go, clear your mind, clear your mind, clear your mind. I got my mind so clear, I couldn't even find a thought. I couldn't even find a sentence. It was just totally blank. But my life had not improved.
(25:30) So, that is not the kind of meditation I recommend. Although it is the kind that many people do. But what I say is you can actually kick it up a notch. And this is what I finally came to, is when you sit down to meditate, what you are really doing is communicating with your spirit, getting in touch with what your spirit wants, doesn't want, and how to make that happen. That's really the essence of a productive, effective meditation.
(26:07) Because life is, you know, things do happen in life. And so, just simply ignoring something or saying it's good when it's not, it doesn't solve any problems. So here's what you do. You have to individualize the meditation to yourself. And so, there's a thought process, like I said, that precedes it. And this is almost always neglected in most meditation methods or courses. The desires of the individual are simply presumed, which is nonsense because each person is different. So, there's no room for the person to express themselves in the meditation. And so that, for me, was the huge missing piece.
Meditation as Communication
(27:00) They say that when you pray, you're asking God or the universe for something, and when you meditate, you're receiving the answer. I thought that was like, hey, you know, why not? But, if you don't understand what you want to ask for, and if you don't even know what you're asking for, or if you don't even ask, then you won't even recognize it when you receive it. So, you have to do a little more.
(27:25) So, first you have to ask yourself these questions. I got a list of them. And you may not want to ask all of them. That's okay. Just pick a few that you think might be useful for you. The first and biggest question is, how do I want to feel? And you want to focus on how you want to feel. And even if you're not feeling that way now, you can maybe go back in your life to a time when you did feel that way. Maybe you want to feel happy. Maybe you want to feel pain-free. Maybe you want to feel more energetic. Whatever that feeling is. You have to get in touch with how it is that you want to feel.
(28:03) Then the next thing you want to figure out is, what can you do to feel that way? What is it that's within your reach at the moment that you can do to feel that way? Now, to be perfectly honest, the first question for most people is worth 30 minutes a day of meditation for even two weeks to get in touch with that. So you really need to honestly answer that question for you. And it's going to vary from person to person. And that's okay. That’s important to understand. That you don't have to want to feel the same way the next person wants to feel. Because you're two different people.
(28:45) That, by the way, is what I found was the biggest problem for me, was to give myself permission to just feel the way I want to feel. Whatever that is. So, and even if you can't put words to the way you feel, if you can just say, I want to feel like I felt when in a certain, maybe, time in your life. That that's the way you want to feel. Okay.
(29:14) Now the next thing you want to figure out is, is there some piece of that experience that you can have now? For example, when I decided I wanted to be a doctor, I was 11 years old. So finally, by the time I was 16 years old, I actually met some doctors. By the time I was 18 years old, I went to visit their homes to see how they lived. I went to see what work they did in the hospital or in their office. So that was a piece of the experience that I could at least observe, or vicariously experience. And that was my way of determining, hey, is this really what I want?
(29:54) And so when you want something, whatever it is, in your mind, build up a whole experience around it. What is that? And then you have to go check to make sure it's what you want. And you can just experience a little bit of it. Maybe you'll be happy. What you really want is you want to feel the sunshine on your face on the beach. All right, fine. Then wherever you live in the world, when it's summertime, go out in the sun and see if you like it. That's a very little piece, but it is a piece.
(30:26) And then also, when you have that little piece of the experience, and you let your brain know, hey, I did like that, then the brain's like, ah, okay, fine. We'll proceed and put together the rest of the scenery for you. So you want to know how you feel. So you have to decide how you want to feel. And this can change. None of this is set in concrete. You can always change it, but you've got to start somewhere.
(30:52) Okay, next is what can you do to feel that way? Between the way you feel now and that experience of feeling that way, what steps need to be taken? And you might say you don't know. Fine, if you don't know, it's okay not to know, because that's the next step. So now in your meditation, you meditate on what steps could be taken. How could you get there? What could you do? And that's when you get all these answers while you're meditating. But this is a very different experience from just sitting still and emptying your mind, emptying your mind, emptying your mind.
(31:28) So it actually allows your brain to do a much higher level activity that's extremely productive in serving you to improve your life.
Key Questions for Meditation
(31:45) Other questions you can ask yourself: What do I want to do? And, again, you have to relax. And any answer, no matter how bizarre, is okay. It’s okay. So it's 2020 now. But back in 2002, 2002, 2003, these guys marched right into my office and said, we've got the answer. We've got the answer to your life. We're going to fix everything. I said, really? At that point, things were pretty bad. I said, well, how are you going to do that? They said, we're going to put you online. It's the Internet. It's taking off. And you're going to be on the Internet, and that's it. Solve all your problems.
(32:21) I was like, hmm, totally unbelievable. But at that point, I was open to anything and everything. I mean, if it was legal, I would consider it. And they put up the original VitalityCapsules.com website. They put up the payment mechanism. They did the pictures, everything, and just literally opened everything up online. Now, it took me a while to get from there to understanding how to use it and how to implement it. But you do need to be very, very open because if I had not taken them up on their offer, then for me to do the very same thing myself seven years later would have been tremendously expensive and difficult.
(32:58) So what do you want to do? How can you do it? And what do you want to have? Now, the other thing is this goes back to how you want to feel. So you have this thing you want to do. Ask yourself, if I do what I want to do, will I feel the way I want to feel? If the answer is no, then you have to change the what you want part. You can't change the what you feel part, because that's coming directly from your spirit. So if you violate that, then that's it. You know, your immune system is just going to, like I said, turn off the lights. It's over. Done.
(33:39) So you want to ask yourself, okay, is there another way that you can achieve that feeling? This is why drugs are so popular, because the drugs are a shortcut. Whether it's alcohol, cigarettes, or anything else, it's a shortcut to get to that feeling. As you can see, this is a bit the long way around, but I think it's a much more secure route. And again, you have good health. So the other shortcuts allow you to follow a life that violates your spirit and still have that feeling. But the price you pay is premature death.
Focusing on What You Want
(34:52) So you want to know, what do you want to have? How are you going to feel when you get it? And the feeling is very important. You always have to check. That's your check. And so if the feeling, if you're doing something, and you say, okay, the feeling at the end, when I get the outcome, it's going to be fill in the blank, and you realize, oh, it's not, then you need to go back, your next meditation, present or think about other choices, other choices, more options, more options. You have to think in a relaxed way. What's going to happen is your mind is going to throw out all kinds of ideas, and it'll even reach the point where you think, like, I'm having a conversation here. These ideas are not coming from me. They're coming from I don't know where.
(35:44) And so, again, you've got to reach for some piece of that experience. You've got to do everything you can to make the experience real. Imagine it, imagine, or I should say, to make the feeling real. Imagine the experiences that are going to create the feeling. Imagine the surroundings, other people involved. And what's going to happen if you're on the wrong course is your spirit will actually tell you. It'll say, I'm not happy with that. And then you have to say, oh, sorry, sorry. I'll try something else. But it's the creativity of constantly presenting your subconscious, your spirit, whatever, with more and more and more choices.
(36:28) And then you want to focus also on what do I enjoy about my life now. There is something you enjoy, trust me. Maybe you have five fingers that work and don't have pain. If that's all that you're enjoying, then, hey, that's it. Or maybe you're able to see. I mean, sometimes life gets so difficult in terms of your ability to see and to understand that you have to focus on just the total, total basics. And with the present environment and issues going on, you have to ask yourself, well, what is my life like right now in terms of, okay, maybe you live in a place, maybe you have food in the refrigerator, maybe you don't, maybe you have this furniture, whatever.
(37:22) Make a list of everything that your life is now. Or even better yet, everything you do from sunup to sundown. Ask yourself, how is that going to change if this person wins the election or that person wins the election? Probably not very much. Or another thing people worry about is they worry about infectious disease. How is my day going to change if someone else does this or does that? And you really want to focus on what you can do to achieve your situation and not have any happiness based on things that you cannot control.
(37:59) Oh, another thing, don't even think about what you don't want. What you don't want, forget it. It doesn't matter. Because whatever you focus on is what you're going to get. And so the meditation then is simply you focusing on your happiness, on being happy, and on what makes you happy. Focus on what you think is going to make you happy. And if it's not going to make you happy, your spirit will give you feedback and say, that's not a good idea, don't do that. But again, you have to listen carefully. Make sure it's your spirit telling you it's not a good idea, that it's not a TV commercial.
(38:45) Which brings up another point. Turn off television, social media, newspaper, everything. Because all of those things are specially engineered to get their hooks right into your spirit and manipulate it so that you don't even know whose idea this is. Whether it's your idea, your spirit talking, or whether it was the 6 o'clock news talking. So you have to turn off all of that chatter. And unfortunately, you're human. And the human body is not sophisticated enough to sort all that out. And so the simplest thing to do is to not even present it with that stuff.
(39:49) Let's say you get past the, oh, I want this. And your spirit says, okay, yeah, sounds good. And then you say to yourself, well, wait, once I get this, then how am I going to feel? And if your spirit says, wait a minute, once you get this, I don't think we're going to be happy. Then put that aside and you have to pick another goal or another way of achieving your objective. So we have a list of all these things that you want, whatever it is. You want to focus your attention on something on your list that you want and will make you feel good when you get it. It's really important.
(40:10) And you have to be easy on yourself and say, hey, you know what? There's no wrong answers here. And if you give yourself an answer and you don't like it, guess what, you're in charge. You can change it. So again, like I said, you've got to reach for this vision, whatever it is. But first you have to make your vision. Honestly, I was so devastated that when I first attempted to apply this, it took me six months to even create a pleasant vision. And that's how filled with all kinds of negative stuff my life was.
Conclusion on Meditation
(41:00) So, again, be patient with yourself. The point is to get started. Also, have the courage to even meditate, to even think. Because a lot of times the propaganda machine is so strong that it may be telling you that you can't heal, that you can't have a good life. So you have to be patient with yourself, understand that you can heal, you can have a good life, and then meditate on how to do that.
(41:24) Once you've got your goal, which is how you want to feel, or the thing you want to do, or the thing you want to have, pick one thing that you're going to give your mind to meditate on or to consider. And just have it consider that. I think the best word is consider. Because a lot of times when you let your mind consider, it comes up with just amazing things.
(41:55) So decide what you want. Meditate on who else wants you to have it. Now those are some folks to meet. And also what you have to do to get it. Then your mind will come up with all kinds of things you have to do to get it. Or your mind might come back to you and say, hey, you already have this. And tell you how you already have it and where you already have it. That's even important.
(42:47) A lot of people focus on money, they want more money. But it's more beneficial to focus on the things that you're going to get or achieve or have with this money. If you do that, then what your meditation can deliver to you is deliver to you that thing without regard to money. And that's important. Because all you really want to do anyway is to be happy and to have things in your life that you want the way you want them and to have a good life.
(43:02) So let's bring this back to health. You can focus on your health. What change in your health do you want? And once that change happens, what will you do with your new health? This is really important for people who want to be healthy. You've got to have an activity. Maybe when you're healthy, you're going to be able to walk up the stairs. Fine. You need to have that concrete goal or your body's not going to heal. It won't even know where to start. And say you can't walk up the stairs. Okay, great. Can you stand up? Okay, let's start with standing up.
(43:33) So each day when you meditate, you meditate on what part of your goal you can achieve and achieve that. And then you meditate on what can you do to achieve more and to achieve more.
(43:52) Now, how to meditate. As I said, to my mind, meditation is an activity you do to communicate with the universe. It brings you in harmony with the universe at the same time the universe is giving you whatever it is you want. It's up to you, really. Some people, and these are some activities that some people do, attend church or religious services, walk in the woods, sit on a log, light a candle and stare at it. Lay in a stream, sit in a dim room, deep breathing. Any of these things would be meditation.
(44:32) But anything that you do in a hurried or worried manner is not meditation. Things that generally are not meditation would be reading a book. Because when you read a book, your mind is not available for the meditation piece. You want to just allow your mind to consider what you've assigned it. Give it a small assignment. If you give your mind a small assignment, like you want to get rid of your asthma, your mind will focus on that and will work on that very nicely.
(45:22) When I was doing meditation, as I had learned at the ashrams, I was super good at it. My mind was totally empty and I was totally non-productive. My life just went nowhere. But once I added these little tweaks of understanding how I wanted to feel and allowing myself to say, you know what, I don't feel the way I want to feel. And then allowing myself to say, wait a minute, this is the way I want to feel. Whatever that was. That was a major breakthrough.
(46:03) Because I had such a regimented life, going to college, going to medical school, doing the residency, being on 24-7 telephone call for my patients. My whole life was just regimented, regimented, regimented. So there's no time for reflection. But that's what is needed, is sitting down and reflecting. That meditation is very, very productive. Again, like I said, you can do it in many different settings.
(46:34) When I was practicing medicine, I enjoyed going to church just for that reason. Because when I went to church, I could sit down. I wasn't in charge of giving a sermon. I didn't have to open the church, close the church, pay the bills of the church. It was like, I could relax. So really, any setting where you can relax and let your mind turn its attention to your happiness is what would be, I think, meditation.
(47:16) The idea that you have to devote a whole room in your house to it or a particular place to it, I think you could do that, but you want to keep that open. Like, maybe you'll want to use the den for a while, several months. And then maybe the sun porch might be a better option for several months. So you want to leave, again, leave that open. You don't want to regiment yourself or put yourself in a position of doing it wrong.
(47:48) All right, so that is the meditation situation.
Q&A
(47:54) Hi, Dr. Daniels. I have trouble controlling my bladder. I urinate at least 15 times a day, and sometimes I have trouble controlling leakage, and sometimes I actually can't control it. What can I do to help this issue? Thank you, Lynn.
(48:14) All right, so let's be clear. This person is wearing diapers or about to wear diapers. I think that's what we're talking about here. They're losing their urine, yeah. So with all this leakage going on, she must have some... she's drinking enough water. But what I found was adding muscle meat, namely beef, to the diet clears this up. So this is the one case where I'd recommend lean beef, like maybe Delmonico steak or something like that. It usually takes about one or two servings. You don't want to eat just steak. Obviously, some carbs and some vegetables with it. And that's it. Works pretty well.
(49:02) So I had this same problem of leakage and stuff when I was vegan. So about 10 years... I was vegan for 26 years. So about 10 years in, I started having problems holding my urine. I was going frequently, small amounts, all day long. And of course, since I went to medical school, I knew that there was no acceptable therapy for this, so I didn't even bother to go see anybody. Yeah, but give that a try. Oh, and so when I started eating meat, boom, gone.
(49:42) Hi, Dr. Daniels. I am an on-again, off-again cigarette and cannabis smoker. I'm wondering if I must prepare the body before taking turpentine or if it even matters. And if it does matter, what are the necessary steps in preparing the body before taking turpentine?
(49:55) Okay, so you can get the Candida Cleaner Report. It's for free. It's at vitalitycapsules.com. It tells you about preparation. So where do cigarettes and cannabis fit in this whole thing? Cannabis is not an issue. So I've not had an issue in working with people. If they're cannabis smokers, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Cigarettes are another matter. So I would recommend to any cigarette smoker to switch to organic cigarettes. At the moment in the United States, American Spirit is the brand of organic cigarettes.
(50:34) Is petroleum jelly like Vaseline beneficial or harmful for the skin?
(50:37) Way beneficial. Oh, my God. So African Americans, before desegregation, during segregation, exclusively used Vaseline for their beautiful, beautiful skin. And so, yes, if you put Vaseline in your skin every day, it will be beautiful. Now, what do I use on my skin? So I use castor oil. So I'm a little more aggressive because I don't want to have any age spots, as you can see. Yeah, clear skin.
(51:22) What do you recommend best for acne?
(51:22) The best thing for acne, honestly, is drinking more water and eating more connective tissue.
(51:38) I did not fully understand the environment versus germ discussion. Please go over again and explain what causes illness if neither germ nor healthy body. Thanks so much, Norman.
(51:48) All right, so let's talk about the germ. So we know the germ is not the issue because for every germ, no matter what it is, there are far, far, far more people who have the germ than there are who have symptoms. So whether you have a germ or not, even if it's tuberculosis, it has nothing to do, whatever, with whether or not it makes you sick. Now, then the next theory is the environment. I'm not sure what that means. Some people call it the terrain theory, but I am not a big fan of that terminology because, really, if there is an organism called a bacteria capable of creating disease, then all you need to do is drink enough water and poop it out of you. Maybe take a little turpentine, give it a little push. But that's pretty much the size of it for most, when I say most, I mean the vast, vast, vast majority of afflictions a person might have. So the way your body copes with parasites, if you want to call them that, is by eviction. So I hope that helps.
(52:55) Now, to be honest, I have told many folks about your turpentine and capsules. Most think I'm crazy for the turpentine, but it works great on me, exactly. So turpentine has worked great for many, many generations. And when I discovered it, I was just totally blown away. And I realized that this is the one best gift I can give to humanity, which is this information. So people who choose to use it, awesome. People who choose not to use it, awesome. Because, as I said earlier in the show, your life depends on what you do, not what anyone else does. So you don't need someone else to use turpentine in order for you to benefit from it. So if people decide not to use it, that's great. Maybe they'll find another route to health. We certainly hope they do. And if people decide to use it, that's great.
(54:08) A friend has a question about how to reduce ferritin levels that she is currently managing with blood draws.
(54:13) Okay, so she's not managing ferritin levels with blood draws. She's managing her hemoglobin hematocrit level. So if you're managing ferritin levels with blood draws, then you are being gypped. You're being snookered. So if she does not have a high hematocrit with excessively thick blood, then the blood draws are irrelevant. So probably your friend should make an appointment so we can kind of sort the whole thing out and give her some perspective.
(55:47) What is the best way to regulate ferritin in the body?
(55:54) It does not need to be regulated. So ferritin is simply an indirect marker. That's like, how do we regulate the length of your shadow? Well, the length of your shadow is irrelevant to your health. So what's really going on here, if you want to regulate anything, it should be your hemoglobin, your hematocrit. Are you anemic? Or do you have excessive blood present? That is what needs to be regulated.
(55:55) I want to lose weight. Due to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, I want to lose 50 pounds. I take the Vitality Capsules every day, exercise, and eat healthy. But I'm not losing weight. Then you're not eating healthy. You have to just... that's it. I weigh 207, would like to be 160. I have normal bowel movements. I don't know what those are. So, you want to go to VitalityCapsules.com, download the Candida Cleaner Report. You want to poop at least three times a day. So, if you're having normal bowel movements, medically, normal bowel movements is one a day, then no progress there. And the diet in the Candida Cleaner Report is extremely effective for healing diabetes.
(56:59) I was wondering if Shilajit is safe while nursing. I've read some conflicting information. Again, my opinion, not a medical opinion, so I'm not licensed. Get the tar, Shilajit. Not the powder. And yes, the tar would be fine.
(57:28) What do you do if parasites have spread throughout your body and you can feel them moving in your legs and other places? Will turpentine alone solve this?
(57:59) Again, you need to go to VitalityCapsules.com, download the free report, the Candida Cleaner, and it goes over water intake, dietary changes, and bowel movements. Those three things will have an incredible effect on your parasites moving around in your legs and other places. And then you can add turpentine once you've done those things. If you just take turpentine, it probably will not help you. So that's why I wrote this 31-page report. It goes into how to prepare your body with turpentine. It goes into all of the undesirable events that happened when I was working with people and how you can avoid them. And the success stories as well and how you can be one of those successful people.
Conclusion
(58:32) All right. Well, that's the end of this week's show. I hope that you can have some exciting, awesome meditations. As always, think happens, and we'll see you in a bit.
